Okay Weather

Privacy policy

Last updated 22 October 2026

Okay Weather is a weather app for Android and the web, with a home screen widget, made by Jeremie Roberrini. This policy covers the Android app, its widget, and the web app at weather.app.roberrini.com.

The short version: there are no accounts, no adverts and no tracking. Your location is used only to fetch the weather for where you are, directly from the weather services listed below, and your settings stay on your device.

What Okay Weather does not collect

There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. There is no Okay Weather server that receives your location, your searches or anything else about you, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising.

Your location

To show the weather where you are, Okay Weather asks for your location. On Android you choose between precise and approximate location; in the browser, your browser asks. It is optional: you can search for a place instead.

Your coordinates are sent directly from your device to the weather services below, to fetch the forecast and the name of the place. They are not sent to the developer or stored on any server of ours.

On Android, the widget refreshes in the background using the last position your phone already knows, or the place you pinned in settings. Okay Weather does not ask for “all the time” background location access.

Place searches

When you search for a place, what you type is sent to OpenWeatherMap's geocoding service to find it.

Services that receive requests

Weather and map data come from the providers below. Each request includes the coordinates or map area it is about and, like any request over the internet, your IP address. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests.

  • OpenWeatherMap: current conditions, forecasts, minute-by-minute rain, weather alerts and place names.
  • Open-Meteo: hour-by-hour detail further ahead, and air quality.
  • RainViewer: the radar images on the map.
  • CARTO: the base map, drawn from OpenStreetMap data.

What is stored on your device

Your settings (style, icon set, units and theme), your saved places and the last location used are kept on your device: in your browser's local storage for the web app, and in the app's private storage on Android, together with the latest forecast for the widget. They never leave your device. Clearing the site's data, or uninstalling the app, deletes them.

The web app

The web app is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, it processes standard technical data such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver the pages. The web app sets no advertising or analytics cookies.

Android permissions

  • Internet: to download forecasts, radar images and map tiles.
  • Precise and approximate location: to show the weather where you are. Optional, since you can search for a place instead.

Children

Okay Weather is meant for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page and the date at the top will change.
